Tests with the Surgical Helmet began today in the Operating Room of the Stomatology Service of the Unidade Local de Saúde de São João, with the aim of evaluating its usability in a real environment and exploring the integration of new features.
The demonstration was coordinated by Bernardo Nunes, head of the Helmet project, in collaboration with Susana Vargas, Director of the Central Operating Room at Hospital São João and project consultant, Serafim Freitas, Director of the Stomatology Service, and stomatologists José Pedro Barbosa and Salomé Cavaleiro.
The Surgical Helmet is Personal Protective Equipment designed to protect against high-risk infectious agents in surgical environments. It is currently under development an advanced version that incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as connectivity with other devices, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). It will also feature medical decision support services and decentralized intervention, driven by technology 5G.
