4LifeLAB participated in the Regional Civil Protection Service Exercise of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM), ‘PROCIVEX 24,’ a disaster simulation and emergency response test held on May 22.

The exercise scenario triggered civil protection actions in response to a tsunami taking place simultaneously between Funchal, Santa Cruz and Machico, on the south coast of Madeira.
According to Rui Cerqueira, “this exercise was an opportunity to explore advanced technological solutions for emergency response, given the specific needs of the region”.
The aim of PROCIVEX 24 was to test the response capacity of the resources, prepare the population for a real situation and exercise the coordination between the various intervention forces in the area of rescue and emergency in response to a Major Accident and/or Catastrophe situation, with the consequent activation of the RAM Regional Civil Protection Emergency Plan.
The exercise was attended by Patrícia Gaspar, the Secretary of State for Civil Protection, António Nunes, President of the Board of Directors of the Regional Civil Protection Service, and Herberto Jesus, President of the Board of Directors of the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
