On February 28, 4LifeLAB held a meeting with the Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), represented by Fábio Camacho, Head of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Department, and the partners of the Advanced Air Mobility project (Eliot, Unidade Local de Saúde São João, NOS and Everythink), at Hospital São João.
During the meeting, 4LifeLAB presented the project’s progress, including the tests carried out to test the delivery of medicines in hard-to-reach places and the main short-term objectives, in line with the legal framework and legislation in force in Portugal.
The visit also provided an opportunity to see the sites planned for the implementation and operation of the vertiports.
Being at the forefront of the use of drones in emergency or rescue situations, with the aim of avoiding risks to human life, requires continuous research work between all the partners and the involvement of various entities outside the Consortium. In this sense, the meeting with ANAC was crucial to clarify the next steps in the development of this innovative solution that will transform pre-hospital response.
