Representatives from 4LifeLAB visited the headquarters of the National Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) in Lisbon, where they were received by Paulo Simões Ribeiro, Secretary of State for Civil Protection, André Fernandes, National Commander for Emergency and Civil Protection, and José Duarte da Costa, President of ANEPC.
The purpose of the visit was to learn more about the functioning and structure of Portugal’s emergency response systems, namely the National Civil Protection System and the Integrated Protection and Relief Operations System.
During the meeting, we visited the new facilities of the National Command of the Special Civil Protection Force (FEPC), in Almeirim. On this occasion, 4LifeLAB presented the Advanced Air Mobility project, highlighting the potential of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the area of health, including the possibility of regular use of drones for services to the population. the possibility of routine use of UAVs at the service of the population. The debate between the institutions addressed the technological and legislative challenges of implementing these innovative solutions.
The meeting was also attended by Vasco Cabo, Hugo Correia and Pedro Cordeiro, from the FEPC, as well as members of the São João Local Health Unit and the CEiiA.
The meeting reinforced public interest in partnerships that could make pilot missions and prototype drone tests possible, driving significant advances in the health sector through the efficient use of drones.
